Swedish House Mafia bestaat uit Axwell, Steve Angello en Sebastian Ingrosso. Eric Prydz is een voormalig lid van deze groep. In 2009 verscheen de track Leave The World Behind, maar ze braken in 2010 door met de vocale versie van One. De single bereikt nummer 1 (2 weken; met Pharrell). Opvolger Miami 2 Ibiza haalt #10 (met Tinie Tempah).

Lucenzo featuring Don Omar

Lucenzo feat. Don Omar stijgt op 23 juli van 25 naar 4 met Danza Kuduro. Danza Kuduro is de Spaans-Portugese coverversie van oorsprong Engels-Portugese nummer Vem Dançar Kuduro van Lucenzo & Big Ali meewerkt. De versie met Don Omar staat op de soundtrack van Fast and Furious 5.

De kuduro een muziekstroming afkomstig uit het Afrikaanse land Angola. Producers uit Luanda, mixten in de jaren tachtig samples van Afrikaanse ritmes met calypso en soca ritmes en noemden dat mengsel batida. De mix van batida met Europese en Amerikaanse elektronische muziek kreeg de naam kuduro. Vanuit Angola waaide het over naar Portugal.

Kuduro betekent in de taal Kimbundo letterlijk ‘harde kont’.

Lucenzo werd geboren als Filipe Oliveira op 27 mei 1983 in Bordeaux, Frankrijk. 

William Omar Landrón werd geboren in Carolina op 10 februari 1978. Hij is een Puerto Ricaanse reggaetonartiest, beter bekend onder zijn artiestennaam Don Omar. Zijn debuuttrack was Dale Don Dale in 2003. In 2005 haalde zijn single Reggaeton Latino #76 in de Single Top 100.

Katy Perry stijgt op 9 juli 2011 van 12 naar 10 met Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.). Het is haar 11e single en 10e hit. Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) is de vijfde single van Katy Perry's studioalbum Teenage Dream. Katy zegt dat dit haar versie is van I Gotta Feeling van de Black Eyed Peas. T.G.I.F. staat voor Thank God It's Friday. De clip heeft een lengte van meer dan 8 minuten, maar is dan ook een heuse minispeelfilm. Met onder andere de broertjes Hanson (Mmmbop, #2 in 1997), saxofonist Kenny G. Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera komen op 9 juli 2011 op 5 de Top 40 binnen met Moves Like Jagger. Moves Like Jagger is Maroon 5's 13e single, 11e hit en 6e top 10-hit. Moves Like Jagger is Christina's 23e single, 19e hit en 13e top 10 hit.

Maroon 5 bestaat nu uit leadzanger/gitarist Adam Levine, gitarist James Valentine, keyboardspeler Jesse Carmichael, basgitarist Mickey Madden en drummer Matt Flynn. Van 1997-2006 was Ryan Dusick drummer van dienst. Hij verliet de groep vanwege een blessure door het jarenlange touren.

Bingo Players

Paul en Maarten maakten in 2004 het nummer Cry. Op YouTube was het in de jaren daaropvolgend een grote hit, reden om in 2011 een remix op single te zetten. Met succes want de Bingo Players stijgen op 2 juli 2011 van 11 naar 9 met Cry (Just A Little). In de track zitten samples van Piano In the Dark van Brenda Russell (1988).

De Bingo Players bestaan uit Paul Bäumer en Maarten Hoogstraten. Het verhaal achter deze track begon op het forum van Laidback Luke waar op woensdag 8 september 2004 het volgende bericht werd gepost: "Nou even tussen neus en lippen door, iets wat ik net ff gemaakt heb, wil graag weten of jullie dit trekken: Eve Stangello – Davali".

Sak Noel

Sak Noel stijgt op 25 juni van 13 naar 3 met Loca People (What The Fuck). De zang op Loca People is van Esthera Sarita. De track is bedacht, geschreven, geregisseerd en produceerd door Sak Noel. In Nederland is de ondertitel What The Fuck, elders is dat La Gente Esta Muy Loca. ‘La gente esta muy loca’ betekent ‘wat een gekke mensen’.

Esthera Sarita is Esther Sarita (20) uit Helmond. Ze ging met een collega naar Gerona om een liedje op te nemen voor hun baas en daar was Zak Noel gecharmeerd van haar stem en Nederlandse accent. Esther zei in de radioshow van Giel Beelen op 7 7 2011 dat ze de tekst van een papiertje oplas en dat ze wel beter Engels kan. Ze is niet te zien in de clip die bij de track hoort.

Sak Noel is een Catalaanse dj die vooral zomerse dancetracks produceert.

Rochelle komt op 25 juni op 2 binnen met No Air. Rochelle Perts uit Helmond wint op vrijdag 10 juni het vierde seizoen van het tvprogramma X-Factor. Binnen een week wordt de track al meer dan 10.000 keer verkocht, goed voor een gouden single.

Rochelle Perts werd geboren in Helmond op 20 maart 1992. Ze volgt momenteel een MBO-opleiding via het ROC Eindhoven aan het Rock City Institute. In 2007 deed Perts auditie bij het vierde seizoen van Idols en viel af tijdens de theaterronde. In december 2010 haalde ze het wel. Perts werd tijdens de liveshows gecoacht door Eric van Tijn en werd op 10 juni 2011 de winnares met 73% van de stemmen. Ze strijdde in de finale tegen de popgroep Adlicious. Na Perts' overwinning werd haar debuutsingle No Air (een cover van Jordin Sparks en Chris Brown, #9 in 2008) uitgebracht alsmede het door haar en Wouter Hardy geschreven nummer Strong.

Coldplay

Op 18 juni komt Coldplay met Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall binnen op 8 in de Top 40. Het is hun 13e Top 40 hit en 7e top 10 hit. De track bevat een sample uit I Go To Rio van Peter Allen. Peter Allens I Go To Rio kwam in 1978 niet verder dan de 27ste plaats in de Nederlandse top 40. Het is niet de eerste keer dat het nummer gerecyclet wordt. Het ‘pianoriffje’ werd eerder al verwerkt in Ritmo De La Noche, welk nummer in 1990 in drie versies de Top 40 haalde: Chocolate (#8), Lorca (#24) en Mystic (#29).

Coldplay werd opgericht in 1996 in Londen. De groep bestaat uit zanger, pianist en gitarist Chris Martin, leadgitarist Jon Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman en drummer Will Champion. Op 11 juni 2011 stijgen Pitbull, Ne-Yo, Afrojack en Nayer van 11 naar 7 met Give Me Everything. Het is Pitbulls 7e hit. Eerder dit jaar bereikte On The Floor met Jennifer Lopez ook al de top 10. Zijn duet met Shakira (Rabiosa) staat deze week op tip 22. Het is Ne-Yo's 10e hit en Afrojack's derde. Voor Nayer is het zijn eerste hit.

Pitbull werd geboren op 14 januari 1981 in Miami als Armando Chrisian Pérez. Er verschenen wel 25 singles voor Pitbull in 2009 zijn eerste hit scoorde met I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho). Die stond 5 weken aan top in Nederland.

Ne-You werd geboren op 18 oktober 1979 in Camden, Arkansas, als Shaffer Chimere Smith. In 2006 scoorde hij met So Sick zijn eerste hit in Nederland (#11). Hate That I Love You was in 2008 zijn eerste top 10 hit (#7; met Rihanna). Miss Independent haalde in hetzelfde jaar #6.

Afrojack werd in Spijkenisse geboren op 9 september 1987 als Nick van de Wall. Afrojack ontleent zijn naam aan zijn kapsel, dat vaak veranderde en ook eens in een afro. In 2008 scoorde hij zijn eerste Top 40 hit met Drop Down (Do My Dance), een samenwerking met The Partysquad (#20). Begin augustus 2010 bracht hij de single Take Over Control uit, een samenwerking met de Nederlandse zangeres Eva Simons (#12). De single bereikte in december 2010 ook de Britse Top 40. Van de Wall werkt veel samen met de Franse dj David Guetta. In 2011 wonnen ze een Grammy voor hun remix van het nummer Revolver van Madonna.

LMFAO stijgt op 28 mei 2011 van 15 naar 10 met Party Rock Anthem. Op 25 juni stijgen ze terug de top 10 in. Ze krijgen hulp van Lauren Bennett en GoonRock. De single haalde al #1 in Vlaanderen, Denemarken, Australië en Nieuw-Zeeland. In Amerika was #20 de hoogst bereikte notering.

LMFAO werd in 2006 opgericht. LMFAO is een acroniem voor Laughing My Fucking Ass Off. Het duo bestaat uit Redfoo en SkyBlu. Redfoo werd geboren als Stefan Kendal Gordy op 3 september 1975. SkyBlu werd geboren als Skyler Husten Gordy op 23 augustus 1986. Zij zijn respectievelijk de zoon en de kleinzoon van Motown-oprichter Berry Gordy; het zijn oom en neef van elkaar.

Lauren Bennett is een Engelse zangeres, die geen plek kreeg in X-Factor, maar wel geselecteerd werd voor het project Paradiso Girls, een poging om te komen tot een Europese Pussycat Dolls.

Racoon

Racoon klimt van 11 naar 7 op 21 mei 2011 met No Mercy. Het is Racoons 13e single (Love You More en remix als twee titels geteld) en 7e hit en 2e top 10 hit.

In 1996 stoppen Bart van der Weide en Dennis Huige met de groep Vict'em. Ze gaan door onder de naam Racoon. Stefan de Kroon en Paul Bukkens voegen zich al snel bij het tweetal.  De band Racoon bestaat nu nog altijd uit Bart van der Weide (zang), Dennis Huige (gitaar), Stefan de Kroon (basgitaar, achtergrondzang) en Paul Bukkens (drums). Feel Like Flying en Blue Days worden in 2000 beide Megahit bij Radio 3 FM, maar komen niet verder dan de tipparade (respectievelijk tip 5 en tip 12). Adele stijgt op 21 mei 2011 in haar derde week notering van 14 naar 10 met Someone Like You en daarmee wipt ze haar eigen single Rolling In The Deep de top 10 uit. Die zakt in de 24e week van 10 naar 14. Ze staat ook nog in de top 10 op 3 met Set Fire To The Rain (12e week hitnotering).

DJ Basto! is zo’n grote fan van de Amerikaanse ziekenhuisserie House dat hij speciaal voor hoofdrolspeler Hugh Lauri de track Gregory’s Theme heeft gemaakt. Hugh Lauri speelt in de serie het personage Gregory House.

Op 16 april 2011 komt Glennis Grace op 3 binnen met Afscheid. Eind maart 2011 raakt de carrière van Glennis Grace in een stroomversnelling dankzij haar deelname aan het programma De Beste Zangers van Nederland. Het nummer Afscheid wordt een hit op YouTube en daarom uitgebracht als digitale single.

Het had niet veel gescheeld of het succes van Glennis Grace was aan haar neus voorbij gegaan. De 32-jarige zangeres moest haar platenmaatschappij dwingen om haar versie van Afscheid, die te horen was in het televisieprogramma De Beste Zangers van Nederland, uit te brengen. Naar eigen zeggen ontplofte haar inbox nadat de bewuste uitzending op tv was te zien. "Ik ging naar m'n platenmaatschappij en zei: heel Nederland staat op z'n kop, nú die single uitbrengen!", vertelt Glennis vrijdag 20 mei 2011 in dagblad Metro. Maar de platenmaatschappij was niet meteen enthousiast en wilde het rustig aan doen. "Ik dacht: dit gaat me niet weer door m'n neus geboord worden. Er was zoveel vraag naar Afscheid." Uiteindelijk werd besloten de live-versie uit de uitzending op single uit te brengen. "Alle radiostations vroegen om het nummer. Dit had ik nog nooit meegemaakt. Ik heb twintig jaar moeten leuren om m'n cd's gedraaid te krijgen. Eindelijk ben ik er."
De single bereikt de eerste plaats in de Single Top 100 en de tweede in de Top 40.

Glennis Grace werd op 19 juni 1978 geboren als Glenda Batta. Grace won in 1994 als zestienjarige de Soundmixshow als Whitney Houston. Haar eerste single I'm Gonna Be Strong behaalde nog datzelfde jaar de dertiende plaats in de Nederlandse Top 40. Haar eerste album Real Emotion uit 1995 en alle singles daarna deden vrij weinig. Om haar carrière nieuw leven in te blazen deed Glennis Grace in 2005 mee aan het Nationaal Songfestival. Met de ballad My Impossible Dream (#26 in de Top 40) won Grace uiteindelijk de finale en mocht zo Nederland vertegenwoordigen in de Oekraïense hoofdstad Kiev. Daar kwam ze niet door de voorrondes heen.

Chris Brown stijgt op 9 april van 14 naar 10 met Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah 3X is Chris' 5e Top 40 hit en 2e top 10 hit. In Nieuw-Zeeland bereikte de single al de toppositie.

Christopher Maurice (Chris) Brown werd geboren in Tappahannock op 5 mei 1989. Op 21 januari 2006 maakte Chris zijn eerste entree met Run It! (#11). In 2008 haalde hij voor het eerst de top 10 met hulp van Jordin Sparks. No Air haalt #9. Op 8 februari 2009 gaf Chris Brown zich in het bijzijn van zijn manager aan bij de politie van Los Angeles nadat hij enkele dagen ervoor zijn toenmalige vriendin Rihanna had geslagen.

Op 2 april stijgen Jessie J. feat. B.o.B. van 20 naar 8 met Price Tag. Price Tag is B.o.B's vierde hit, vierde top 10-succes in Nederland en tevens zijn vierde samenwerking met een andere artiest. Zijn enige solosingle Don't Let Me Fall kwam op 12 maart 2011 de tipparade binnen.

Jessica Ellen Cornish, beter bekend als Jessie J. werd geboren in Londen op 27 maart 1988. Op elfjarige leeftijd werd Jessie J gecast voor een rol in Whistle Down the Wind onder productie van Andrew Lloyd Webber. Op zestienjarige leeftijd begon J haar studie aan de BRIT school, waar ook Adele en Amy Winehouse gestudeerd hebben. Jessie J heeft hartritmestoornissen en werd getroffen door een kleine beroerte toen ze 18 was. Ze schreef eerder songs voor Miley Cyrus en Justin Timberlake. In november 2010 verscheen haar debuutsingle Do It Like A Dude en in februari haar debuutalbum Who You Are.

B.o.B werd geboren als Bobby Ray Simmons op 15 november 1988). Nothin' On You met Bruno Mars werd een nummer 1-hit in de Nederlandse Top 40 in 2010. De single werd ook een nummer 1-hit in de Amerikaanse Billboard Hot 100. Opvolger Airplanes (met Hayley Williams van Paramore) haalde #4, Magic met Rivers Cuomo haalde #6.

Op 2 april stijgt Alexis Jordan van 11 naar 3 met Happiness. Dat was eind 2010 de hoogste notering in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. In Noorwegen bereikte de single al de toppositie. In Australië bereikte de single #3 en werd dubbel platina. In Amerika haalde de single alleen de Dance-lijst (#1). De song is gebaseerd op het instrumentale Brazil van Deadmau5.

Alexis Jordan werd geboren op 7 april 1992. Ze deed in 2006 mee aan het eerste seizoen van America's Got Talent. Toen ze daaruit weggestemd werd, begon ze songs te uploaden naar YouTube en die werden door miljoenen mensen bekeken. Dit leidde tot interesse van het Noorse productieteam Stargate en de Amerikaanse rapper Jay-Z. Happiness is haar debuutsingle uit 2010.

S&M is de derde single van Rihanna’s vijfde studioalbum Loud. Het is Rihanna's 23e hit sinds ze in 2005 doorbrak met Pon De Replay.
S&M verscheen op 24 januari 2011 en stijgt op 19 maart naar 8. In Amerika is er veel ophef over de songtekst. Met name 'Sex in the air, I love the smell of it' en 'Chains and whips excite me!'. Volgens Rihanna gaat deze tekst niet over seks. Op de radiozenders in Engeland wordt overdag alleen de gekuiste versie gedraaid. De videoclip van S&M kwam uit op Vevo op 31 januari 2011. Daarin speelt Rihanna met bananen en opblaaspoppen. Daarom kon hij niet vrij op YouTube. In diverse landen mag hij niet op tv worden uitgezonden.

Robyn Rihanna Fenty werd geboren in Saint Michael, Barbados op 20 februari 1988. Met Don't Stop The Music uit 2007 stond ze twee weken bovenaan de Top 40.
