In 1996 stoppen Bart van der Weide en Dennis Huige met de groep Vict'em. Ze gaan door onder de naam Racoon. Stefan de Kroon en Paul Bukkens voegen zich al snel bij het tweetal. De band Racoon bestaat nu nog altijd uit Bart van der Weide (zang), Dennis Huige (gitaar), Stefan de Kroon (basgitaar, achtergrondzang) en Paul Bukkens (drums). Feel Like Flying en Blue Days worden in 2000 beide Megahit bij Radio 3 FM, maar komen niet verder dan de tipparade (respectievelijk tip 5 en tip 12). Opvolger Eric's Bar, een ode aan het café La Strada in Goes, de plaats waar de band vandaan komt, haalt in 2001 de tipparade niet eens. Hetzelfde lot ondergaat Happy Family in 2005. Op 23 juli 2005 haalt Love You More de hitparade en dat nummer groeit uit tot hun grootste hit tot nu toe: 23 weken notering met #3 als hoogste. Daarna haalt Laugh About It #16. Brother flopt eerst, maar wordt na het succes van de Armin van Buuren-remix van Love You More (#24 in 2006) opnieuw uitgebracht en komt dan tot #14. Close Your Eyes haalt #26 in 2007, Lucky All My Life #19 in 2008. Clean Again en My Town floppen in 2008 en 2009.
