Einde aan blog Nederlandse Top 10 Acts

Wegens tijdsgebrek en omdat er steeds meer plekken online zijn waar veel informatie raadpleegbaar is over alle acts die in de Top 40 staan, stop ik per 31 december 2014 met het bijhouden van dit blog. De al geschreven artikelen blijven wel online staan en jaarlijks zal ik ook het popjaaroverzicht maken volgens dezelfde opzet als hier het geval was. 2015: een jaar vol jubileumuitgaven

Vanwege 50 jaar Top 40 staan er enkele uitgaven en een expositie op de rol... een overzicht.

Yellow Claw featuring Ayden

Op 20 december 2014 stijgt Till It Hursts van Yellow Claw featuring Ayden van 11 naar 9 in de vierde week notering.

Yellow Claw wordt in 2011 opgericht door Nizzle, MC Bizzey en Jim Aasgier. Samen met Mr Polska en Ronnie Flex leveren ze in 2012 met Allermooiste Feestje hun eerste single af. Krokobil wordt hun eerste hit in de Top 40; daaraan werken ook Sjaak en opnieuw Mr Polska mee.  In 2013 was Thunder, samen met Rochelle, hun vierde hit in de lijst.

Ayden werd geboren op 23 augustus 1995. Begin 2014 viel de 19-jarige Amsterdamse Ayden Veerbeek op met haar versie van Drunk In Love (origineel van Beyonce). Daardoor wekte zij de interesse op van Yellow Claw

Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars

Uptown Funk stijgt op 13 december 2014 van 14 naar 9 in de vierde week notering.

De Brit Mark Ronson wordt op 4 september 1975 geboren. In 2003 verscheen zijn debuutalbum Here Comes The Fuzz. In 2006 is zijn tweede album Version daar. Daarop staat onder andere de cover Valerie, een samenwerking met Amy Winehouse, en dat werd in Nederland een nummer 1-hit. 

Bruno Mars werd op 8 oktober 1985 geboren als Peter Gene Hernandez. Hij begon zijn muzikale loopbaan als producent voor onder andere Brandy, Cee Lo Green en Sean Kingston. In 2010 bracht hij eigen werk uit met zijn eerste mini-album It’s Better If You Don’t Understand. Ondertussen leverden zijn bijdragen aan de hits van B.o.B (Nothin’ On You) en Travie McCoy (Billionaire) hem al direct twee nummer 1-hits in de Top 40 op. Just The Way You Are stond in de zomer van 2010 elf weken op de eerste plaats van de Top 40. Ook de opvolgers Grenade en The Lazy Song werden grote hits.

Viering 50 jaar Top 40 met live-uitzending en jubileumboek

Op 2 januari 2015 is het precies vijftig jaar geleden dat Willem van Kooten alias Joost den Draaijer de allereerste Top 40 presenteerde op het zendschip Veronica. Om die historische gebeurtenis te vieren wordt vijftig jaar na dato de Media Markt Top 40 live door Radio 538 uitgezonden vanuit theater Gooiland. 

Ariana Grande & The Weeknd

Ariana Grande & The Weeknd stijgen op 6 december van 27 naar 10 in de tweede week notering met Love Me Harder.

De Amerikaanse Ariana Grande-Butera werd geboren op 26 juni 1993. Ze begon haar carrière als actrice in de musical 13 en de serie Victorious. Ondertussen plaatste ze op YouTube verschillende covers, waaronder die van Only Girl (In The World) (Rihanna) en Hurt (Christina Aguilera). Hoewel er in 2011 al een nummer van haar verscheen (Put Your Hearts Up) werd The Way (samen met Mac Miller) in het voorjaar van 2013 haar doorbraak. In de Top 40 kwam het nummer tot de 28ste plaats. De opvolger Baby I bleef steken in de Tipparade. Problem (#5) en Break Free (#3; met Zedd) haalden de lijst wel. Ondertussen maakte ze samen met Jessie J en Nicki Minaj de track Bang Bang (#6).

Abel Tesfaye werd op 16 februari 1990 in Canada geboren. Hij begon in 2010 met het uploaden van tracks naar YouTube onder de naam The Weeknd. In 2011 was die hoeveelheid nummers uitgegroeid tot een drietal mixtapes, waaruit later zijn debuutalbum Kiss Land wordt samengesteld. Het album komt in de Verenigde Staten op nummer 2 in de albumlijst en is in de eerste week van release al goed voor bijna 100.000 stuks. In 2014 kwam de track Devil May Cry terecht op de soundtrack bij The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Hozier

Hozier stijgt op 6 december 2014 van 14 naar 6 in de 7e week notering. De single was een bescheiden hitje in Nederland (#34), maar door het grote succes in Vlaanderen (tien weken #1) kwam de track weer in de belangstelling met top 10-succes als resultaat.


Andrew Hozier-Byrne werd geboren op 17 maart 1990. Hij is afkomstig uit Ierland en studeerde muziek in Dublin. Tot 2012 was hij lid van Anuna, waarmee hij ook in Nederland op het podium stond. In 2012 ging hij solo verder en al vrij snel verscheen zijn mini-album Take Me To Church. In het najaar van 2013 bereikt de titeltrack de tweede plaats van de Ierse hitlijst en in Luxemburg nummer 1. In Nederland kwam de single tot de 34e plaats.

Alesso featuring Tove Lo stijgt op 29 november 2014 van 13 naar 10 in de negende week notering. Het is zowel voor Alesso als Tove hun tweede hit in Nederland.


Alessandro Lindblad wordt op 7 juli 1991 geboren in Stockholm. In 2012 staat hij samen met Sebastian Ingrosso voor het eerst de Top 40 met Calling. De singles Years (met Matthew Koma) en Under Control (met Calvin Harris en Hurts) bleven daarna steken in de Tipparade.

Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson wordt op 29 oktober 1987 in Zweden geboren. Ze start als zangeres van Tremblebee. Haar solosingle Habits bereikte in 2013 in Denemarken de top 10 . De remix daarvan, Stay High, die ze samen maakt met het Amerikaanse productieduo Hippie Sabotage wordt haar vierde single en daarmee breekt ze door. In het Verenigd Koninkrijk haalt ze nummer 6 en eind juni stond het nummer bovenaan de Media Markt Top 40.

Echosmith

Cool Kids van Echosmith stijgt op 22 november 2014 van 12 naar 10 in de achtste week. Het is hun eerste hit.

Echosmith werd in 2009 opgericht door de broers Graham (5 februari 1999; drummer), Noah (1 januari 1993; basgitarist) en Jamie Sierota (9 april 1992; gitarist) en zus Sydney (21 april 1997; zangeres). De band kreeg in 2012 een platencontract. Hun eerste single Tonight We Make History werd gebruikt in een promo van NBC rond de Olympische Spelen. In het najaar van 2013 verscheen hun debuutalbum Talking Dreams.

Sheppard

Sheppard stijgt op 15 november 2014 met Geronimo van 17 naar 9 in de vierde week notering. De track is afkomstig van het album Bombs Away.

In 2009 vormen Amy en George Sheppard hun band en kregen ze versterking van Jay Bovino en later groeide de groep uit tot een formatie van zes toen ook Emma Sheppard zich bij de band voegde. In 2013 verscheen hun eerste single Hold My Tongue.

Aronchupa

I'm An Albatroaz van Aronchupa stijgt op 15 november 2014 van 11 naar 4 in de derde week. Het is zijn eerste hit. In Denemarken en Zweden haalde de track al #1.

Achter de naam Aronchupa gaat de Zweedse dj en producer Aron Ekberg schuil. Hij maakt ook deel uit van een vijftal dat hiphop en dance maakt onder de naam Albatraoz. De vrouwenstem die het refrein van I’m An Albatraoz zingt is Nora Ekberg, Arons zus.

David Guetta featuring Sam Martin stijgt op 8 november 2014 met Dangerous van 12 naar 6. Nederlander Giorgio Tuinfort is medecomponist van de track. Met Sam Martin scoorde hij eerder dit jaar al een hit met Lovers On The Sun. Dangerous is zijn 29ste hit in Nederland en op dit moment is hij de meest succesvolle Top 40-artiest die nog nooit een nummer 1-hit heeft gescoord. In Frankrijk en Wallonië was de single al goed voor de toppositie. Op 24 november verschijnt het album Listen.

David Guetta werd op 7 november 1967 in Parijs geboren. In 2002 scoort hij zijn eerste Nederlandse hit met Love Don't Let Me Go. In 2009 scoort hij zijn grootste successen met When Love Takes Over (met Kelly Rowland) en Sexy Bitch (met Akon).

Sam Martin studeerde twee jaar aan de Berklee School Of Music en is mede-oprichter en zanger van de band Con Bro Chill, die hij samen met zijn broer Connor Martin begon. Ed Sheeran stijgt op 8 november 2014 met Thinking Out Loud van 21 naar 9 in de vierde week. Derde single afkomstig van het album X.

Edward Christopher Sheeran werd geboren in Halifax, Verenigd Koninkrijk op 17 februari 1991. Met The A Team is hij in 2011 te zien in het programma Later… with Jools Holland. De single stond maar liefst 32 weken genoteerd in de Top 40. Kort daarna bereikte ook The Lego House de lijst, maar de singles daarna floppen allemaal. Tot in 2013 als het tweede deel van de bioscoopserie The Hobbit in première gaat. Sheeran maakt met I See Fire een belangrijke hit voor die film. Avicii stijgt met The Days op 1 november 2014 in de derde week notering van 11 naar 10. Het nummer, waarop de vocalen van Robbie Williams te horen zijn, is de voorloper van zijn nieuwe album dat in 2015 zal verschijnen.

Tim Bergling (Stockholm, 8 september 1989) scoorde in ons land als Tim Berg zijn eerste hit. Bromance staat in de zomer van 2010 maar liefst 21 weken in de Top 40 en bereikte de tweede plaats. Ook scoort hij als Tom Hangs een top-10 hit met Blessed (#9 in 2011). Daarna scoort hij onder de naam Avicii.
