Alicia Keys komt op 22 september op 8 de Top 40 binnen met Girl On Fire. Het is Alicia's 18e hit in Nederland en haar 8e top 10 succes. Girl On Fire is afkomstig van het vijfde, gelijknamige album van Alicia Keys dat in november 2012 zal verschijnen.
Er is een versie met Nicki Minaj (Inferno) en een zonder haar gerap (Blue light). Voor Nicki is het haar 7e hit en 2e top 10-notering. Alicia en Nicki zongen het nummer tijdens de 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.

Alicia Keys werd geboren als Alicia J. Augello-Cook op 25 januari 1981 in New York. In 2001 scoorde ze haar eerste hit in Nederland met Fallin' en die track stond vier weken bovenaan de Top 40. Haar andere top 5 hits zijn: My Boo (#5 in 2004), No One (#3 in 2007) en Empire State Of Mind (#2 in 2009). Keys kreeg in 2010 een zoon met haar partner Swizz Beatz, met wie ze op 31 juli 2010 trouwde. Haar man heeft uit eerdere relaties twee zoons.

Nicki Minaj werd geboren als Onika Tanya Maraj in Saint James, Trinidad, op 8 december 1982. Ze werkt vanuit de VS. In 2010 scoorde ze met Will.I.am haar eerste Nederlandse hit met Check It Out! (#27). In 2012 scoort ze haar vooralsnog grootste hit met Starships (#2).

PSY

Op 15 september 2012 stijgt PSY van 12 naar 6 met Gangnam Style. Het is zijn eerste hit in de Top 40. Het is tevens de allereerste hit uit Zuid-Korea in Nederland. Nooit eerder haalde een act uit dat land een hitnotering. De door PSY bedachte videoclip bij het nummer verspreidde zich in recordtijd over de wereld via YouTube. Gangnam Style was al een nummer 1-hit in Zuid-Korea. Gangnam verwijst naar een chique wijk in de Zuid-Koreaanse hoofdstad Seoel.

PSY werd op 31 december 1977 in Zuid-Korea geboren als Park Jae-Sang. Hij studeerde aan de Universiteit van Boston en het Berklee College of Music. In 2000 verscheen zijn eerste single Bird.

Sandra van Nieuwland

Op 15 september 2012 stijgt Sandra van Nieuwland van 13 naar 4 met More. De cover van de gelijknamige track van Usher is Sandra's eerste hit. In de eerste week werd de track al meer dan 10.000 keer gedownload. Ushers origineel kwam tot nummer 4 in 2011. In de 14e week stijgt de track terug de top 10 in van 13 naar 9.

Sandra werd 35 jaar geleden geboren in Delft. In 2001, tijdens een vakantie in Australië, maakte ze haar zangdebuut op straat. Op 17 mei 2012 won ze de tweede editie van het Haarlems Zangfestival. Sandra van Nieuwland breekt door dankzij haar deelname aan het derde seizoen van The Voice Of Holland. Alle coaches, Marco Borsato, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Nick & Simon en Roel van Velzen draaien hun stoel om als zij auditie doet. Ze kiest Trijntje Oosterhuis als coach. Nielson

Nielsons debuutsingle Beauty & The Brains stijgt op 8 september 2012 in de vijfde week van 11 naar 7. De single haalde al #1 in de iTunes hitlijst. Nielson was deelnemer aan het tvprogramma De Beste Singer-Songwriter van Nederland, dat vanaf 25 juni 2012 tien weken lang te zien was op maandagavond om 20.30 uur op Nederland 3. Op 13 oktober 2012 stijgt de single terug naar #10 in de tiende week notering en op 27 oktober 2012 gaat de single wederom naar 10 van 11 in de dan 12e hitweek.

Nielson werd op 28 december 1989 in Dordrecht geboren als Niels Littooij. Hij begon zijn carrière als rapper aan de Herman Brood Academie. In die hoedanigheid won de Dordtenaar in 2008 de Rotterdamse variant van kunstbende en het leverde hem voorprogramma’s op van onder andere The Opposites. Daarop benaderde MTV/Nickolodeon hem om lid te worden van de popgroep Zirkus Zirkus, waar hij tot 2011 deel van uitmaakte met Fanny Koomans en Sherman Doesburg. Ze haalden de Top 40 nooit, maar de track 17 & Smoorverliefd haalde wel #5 in de Single Top 100 in 2009. Nadat Zirkus Zirkus uiteenviel, besloot Nielson weer als solo-artiest verder te gaan. Hij schrijft vooral positieve en energieke Nederlandstalige popliedjes. Zijn eerste single Beauty & De Brains kwam eind juli 2012 uit. Momenteel is hij druk bezig met het opnemen van zijn debuutplaat.

Otto Knows

Op 25 augustus 2012 stijgt Otto Knows in de vierde week notering met Million Voices van 11 naar 8. Het is de tweede hit voor Otto in Nederland. Ook in Vlaanderen is de track inmiddels een top 10-hit.

De tekst en muziek zijn afkomstig van de Zweed Otto Jettmann, een protégé van Avicii (Tim Berg). Otto woont in Stockholm. In 2010 had hij samen met Tim Berg en Oliver Ingrosso de #30 hit iTrack.
