Op 22 augustus 2011  gaan in het radio 2 programma De Gouden Uren twee singles in première: Kijk Me Na van Keizer en De Munnik en Sterker Dan Ooit van Nick & Thomas. Aangekondigd wordt dat de twee duo's een battle aan zullen gaan. De twee singles zijn vanaf dinsdag 23 augustus legaal te downloaden, en verschijnen 2 september op cd-single samen met twee 'solo'-versies. Op zaterdag 3 september 2011 is de voorlopige winnaar Sterker Nu Dan Ooit van Nick & Thomas, want hun single komt op 10 binnnen. Kijk Me Na van Keizer & De Munnik komt op 13 binnen.

Toen Nick & Simon voor hun in oktober geplande Symphonica In Rosso stadionconcerten een gastact zochten en vonden in Acda en de Munnik werd het ooit als grap geopperde wederzijdse vreemdgaan werkelijkheid. Nick & Thomas wordt gevormd door Nick Schilder - van Nick & Simon - en Thomas Acda, van Acda en de Munnik. Keizer & De Munnik is een samenwerking tussen Simon Keizer – bekend van Nick & Simon - en Paul de Munnik, bekend van Acda en de Munnik. Na het viertal concerten in de Symphonica In Rosso reeks op 8, 14, 15 en 16 oktober 2011 zal ieder weer zijns weegs gaan.
Nick Schilder (6 november 1983) en Simon Keizer (16 mei 1984) scoorden als Nick & Simon 13 hits. Vaarwel verleden / De Soldaat was in oktober 2006 de eerste (#21). Vier keer bereikten ze de top 10: Kijk Omhoog (#6 in 2007), Rosanne (#4 in 2008), Hoe Lang? (#3 in 2008) en Het Masker / Santa's Party (#8 in 2009). Vier songs staan in de Radio 2 Top 2000 waarvan Pak Maar M'n Hand in 2010 op 317 de hoogste is.

Thomas Acda (6 maart 1967) en Paul de Munnik (30 september 1970) scoorden als Acda & De Munnik 11 hits. Niet Of Nooit Geweest was in juni 1998 de eerste. Twee keer bereikten ze de top 10: Niet Of Nooit Geweest (#2 in 1998) en Groeten Uit Maaiveld (#10 in 2003). Negen songs staan in de Radio 2 Top 2000 waarvan Het Regent Zonnestralen in 2010 op 52 de hoogstgenoteerde is. Samen met de groep Van Dik Hout vormden Acda & De Munnik De Poema's. Dat leverde drie hits op, waaronder de top 10 hits Mijn Houten Hart (#7 in 1999) en Zij Maakt Het Verschil (2 weken 1 in 2001).

Op 27 augustus stijgen David Guetta featuring Sia van 27 naar 3 met Titanium. De track is afkomstig van Guetta's nog te verschijnen vijfde studioalbum Nothing But The Beat. Het is zijn 20ste Nederlandse hit en vierde top 3 hit. De vocalen zijn van de Australische zangeres Sia Furler. De track is geschreven door David Guetta met de Nederlanders Giorgio Tuinfort en Afrojack (Nick van de Wall). De eerste opnamen bevatten zang van Mary J. Blige.

David Guetta werd op 7 november 1967 in Parijs geboren. Zijn grootste hit tot nu toe is When Love Takes Over met Kelly Rowland (#2 in 2009).

Sia Furler werd geboren op 18 augustus 1975 in Adelaide, Australië. In 2008 breekt ze door met The Girl You Lost To Cocaine (#14). In 2010 halen Clap Your Hands (#5) en You've Changed (#33) de hitparade.

Gotye featuring Kimbra

Op 27 augustus stijgen Gotye featuring Kimbra van 15 naar 6 met Somebody That I Used To Know. Het is Gotye's vierde single, maar pas eerste hit. In 2006 was Learnalilgivinanlovin de eerste. Ook in België haalde hij de hitparade nog niet eerder.

Gotye is een pseudoniem voor de Belgisch-Australische musicus Walter (Wally) De Backer. Hij werd op 21 mei 1980 in Brugge, België geboren, maar zijn ouders verhuisden naar Australië toen Wally nog klein was.

Kimbra Johnson werd geboren op 27 maart 1990 in Hamilton, Nieuw Zeeland. Haar debuutalbum Vows zal op 2 september 2011 verschijnen.

Op 27 augustus stijgt Hot Chelle Rae van 21 naar 9 met Tonight Tonight. Het is de eerste hit voor de in Nashville, Tennessee opgerichte band. In Amerika was #7 de toppositie in juli 2011.

Hot Chelle Rae werd opgericht in 2005 en bestaat uit zanger Ryan Keith Follese, gitarist Nash Overstreet, Ian Keaggy en drummer Jamie Follese. De band is genoemd naar de eerste 'toegewijde' fan: Chelle Rae, die de band op MySpace stalkte.

Snow Patrol

Op 27 augustus stijgt Snow Patrol van 11 naar 10 met Called Out In The Dark. Het is hun zesde hit in Nederland. De track is afkomstig van het zesde studioalbum Fallen Empires dat op 4 september 2011 uitkomt. De video werd in de omgeving van Los Angeles opgenomen.

De roots van Snow Patrol gaan terug tot 1994. Anno 2011 (vanaf 2005 ongewijzigd) bestaat de groep uit zanger Gary Lightbody, basgitarist Paul Wilson, drummer Jonny Quinn, gitarist Nathan Connolly en toetsenist Tom Simpson. In 2006 bereikte Chasing Cars #24. In 2009 stond Just Say Yes drie weken op 1. De rerelease van Run haalde daarop #22 nadat die in 2004 de tipparade niet eens had gehaald. Vijf songs staan in de Radio 2 Top 2000: Chasing Cars op 90, Just Say Yes op 258, Run op 327, Shut Your Eyes op 460 en Crack The Shutters op 1098 in 2010.

Man Down stijgt op 20 augustus van 13 naar 4. Man Down is de vijfde single van Rihanna's vijfde studioalbum Loud. Het is haar 19e top 10 hit in Nederland. De single bereikte al #1 in Frankrijk. De clip van Man Down werd in april opgenomen op Jamaica.

Rihanna is de artiestennaam van Robyn Rihanna Fenty, die op 20 februari 1988 in Saint Michel op Barbados geboren werd.
