Magic van Coldplay stijgt op 22 maart 2014 in de tweede week notering van 24 naar 9. De track zal staan op het zesde studioalbum Ghost Stories dat op 19 mei 2014 zal verschijnen. Magic is hun 27ste single en 9de top 10 hit.

Coldplay werd in 1996 in Londen opgericht. De groep bestaat uit zanger Chris Martin, gitarist Jonny Buckland, drummer Will Champion en bassist Guy Berryman. Hun eerste single Yellow flopte in Nederland in 2000. Opvolger Trouble haalde #38. Clocks was in 2003 hun eerste top 10 hit (#2). In 2005 stond Talk vier weken op de toppositie in 2008 preikte Viva La Vida drie weken op die ereplek.

Afrojack featuring Wrabel

Ten Feet Tall van Afrojack featuring Wrabel stijgt op 15 maart 2014 van 17 naar 10 in de vierde week notering. Het is Afrojacks elfde hit in de Top 40. 

Ten Feet Tall van de Amerikaanse singer-songwriter Stephen Wrabel stamt uit mei 2012. Afrojack hoorde die versie toevallig en stelde voor om een remix te maken.
De remix van Afrojack was op zondag 2 februari 2014 te horen in een commercial van biermerk Bud Light die werd uitgezonden tijdens de Superbowl, de jaarlijkse American Football-finale.

Nick van der Wall, zoals Afrojack eigenlijk heet, werd geboren op 9 september 1987 in Spijkenisse. In 2008 scoorde hij met The Partysquad zijn eerste hit met Drop Down (Do My Dance) (#20). Met Pitbull, Ne-Yo & Nayer stond hij in 2011 twee weken op nummer 1 met Give Me Everything. Afrojack werd in 2012 vader van dochter Vegas. Amanda Balk, bekend van De Gouden Kooi, is de moeder van hun kind.

Stephen Wrabel werkt vanuit Los Angeles en in 2014 zal zijn debuutalbum uitkomen op Island Records. Hij schreef lange tijd nummers voor en met anderen. Daaronder Gary Lightbody van Snow Patrol, Avicii en onze eigen Ilse Delange. Ilse's Learning To Swim op het album Eye Of The Hurricane is van zijn hand.

George Ezra

Budapest van George Ezra stijgt op 8 maart 2014 van 13 naar 9 in de vierde week. Het is zijn eerste hit.

George Ezra werd geboren als George Barnett op 6 juni 1993 Bristol, United Kingdom. Hij is 20 maar klinkt als 50. Zijn twee grootste voorbeelden zijn Bob Dylan en Woody Guthrie. Hij werd een paar jaar geleden ontdekt via de regionale radiozender van de BBC in Bristol. Ezra staat op de vijfde plek in de prestigieuze beloftenlijst BBC Sound Of 2014 en werkt hard aan een eerste album. Door zijn succes was hij gedwongen om zijn universitaire opleiding (tijdelijk) stop te zetten.

Milky Chance

Op 1 maart 2014 stijgt Milky Chance met Stolen Dance van 17 naar 10. Stolen Dance stamt uit het najaar van 2012, maar werd pas halverwege 2013 opgemerkt toen het album Sadnecessary verscheen. Track doet zeer denken aan One Day van Asaf Avidan.

Clemens Rehbein en Philipp Dausch

Milky Chance is een duo uit Kassel, Duitsland, bestaande uit Clemens Rehbein (zang) en Philipp Dausch (beats). De twee kennen elkaar van de Jacob-Grimm school. Op 12-jarige leeftijd zaten ze al in een jazzbandje genaamd Flown tones. Stolen Dance stond al #1 gestaan in Oostenrijk, Zwitserland en Luxemburg. In Duitsland kwamen ze tot de 2de plaats.

Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne

Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne stijgt met Rather Be op 1 maart 2014 van 18 naar 2. In het Verenigd Koninkrijk is het hun vierde single, afkomstig van het nog te verschijnen debuutalbum New Eyes.

Clean Bandit bestaat uit basgitarist Jack Patterson, drummer Luke Patterson, cellist Grace Chatto en violist Milan Neil Amin-Smith. De groep werd in 2009 in Cambridge, Engeland opgericht. Rather Be haalde in hun thuisland al #1. Daarnaast boekte het nummer een record op Spotify met 1,09 miljoen streams. Het vorige record was in 2013 met iets meer dan 1 miljoen streams voor Get Lucky van Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams.

Jess Glynne is een Britse singer-songwriter uit Londen. Ze is ook te horen op My Love van Route 94, maar die track heeft de Top 40 nog niet gehaald. Clean Bandit hoorde My Love en daarop besloten de instrumentalisten van Clean Bandit haar te vragen voor de vocalen op Rather Be.

Avicii

Avicii stijgt op 1 maart 2014 met Addicted To You van 13 naar 7 in de derde week notering. Zijn nummer één-hit van vorig jaar Hey Brother staat deze week nog altijd op 15.

Een van de vier componisten is de 72-jarige Amerikaanse countryzanger Mac Davis. Davis schreef eind jaren ’60 hits voor Elvis Presley (A Little Less Conversation, In The Ghetto). In 2013 maakte Davis als zanger een comeback op het Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Daar zong hij bij een optreden van Avicii de track Wake Me Up en dat werd een wereldhit nadat het heropgenomen was met Aloe Blacc als zanger.

Audra Mae (29) uit Oklahama is de zangeres van dienst. Zij is de achter-achternicht van zangeres/actrice Judy Garland. Audra Mae bracht in 2010 haar debuutalbum uit, maar schreef bijvoorbeeld ook al nummers voor de Duitse Eurovisie-deelneemster Lena Meyer-Landrut en voor Britain’s Got Talent-ster Susan Boyle.

Avicii is de artiestennaam van Tim Bergling (Stockholm, 8 september 1989). Met Bromance had hij in 2010 zijn eerste hit (#2). In 2013 bereikten zowel Wake Me Up (11 weken) en Hey Brother (4 weken) de toppositie in de Top 40. Wake Me Up met Aloe Blacc is de succesvolste Alarmschijf aller tijden.
