Anders Nilsen

Anders Nilsen stijgt op 19 juli 2014 van 16 naar 1 in de tweede week notering. Het is de eerste hit voor de Noor en al de tweede Noorse nummer 1-hit dit jaar na Am I Wrong van Nico & Vinz. Na A-ha, Madcon en Nico & Vinz scoort Nilsen de vierde nummer 1-hit die uit Noorwegen afkomstig is.

Anders Nilsen had bij het maken al vol vertrouwen in het scoren van een zomerhit. Hij nam daartoe een bekend klinkende melodie, populaire instrumenten als de saxofoon en accordeon, een zomers ritme en pakkende Spaanse woorden. 

Sander Hoogendoorn maakte een Nederlandse parodie met bekende Scandinavische namen en merken erin.

De remix van Prayer In C van de Duitser Robin Schulz scoort waar het origineel flopte. De track stijgt op 19 juli 2014 van 11 naar 6 in de derde week notering. Het origineel is afkomstig van de cd Invincible Friends uit 2010.

Het Franse duo Lilly Wood & The Prick bestaat uit zangeres Nili Hadida (geboren in 1986 in Tel Aviv, Israël) en de Franse gitarist Benjamin Cotto. In 2009 verschijnt hun eerste mini-album Lilly Who And The What? Een jaar later is Invincible Friends hun eerste complete album. In 2012 verschijnt het tweede album The Fight.

Robin Schulz werd op 28 april 1987 geboren in Osnabrück. Hij kwam wereldwijd in de belangstelling met de remix van Waves van de Nederlander Mr Probz. Daarmee scoorde Schulz in onder meer het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Zwitserland, Zweden, Noorwegen, Denemarken, Oostenrijk en zijn thuisland Duitsland een nummer 1-hit. In 2014 neemt hij Prayer In C onder handen en daarmee schopte hij het al tot nummer 1 in Oostenrijk, Duitsland en Zwitserland.

Armando Christian Perez werd geboren op 15 januari 1981. Pas in 2009 werd hij wereldberoemd als Pitbull met de track I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho). De single, gebaseerd op Street Player van Chicago, stond toen vijf weken op de eerste plaats van de Top 40.  Daarna haalde hij nog twee keer #1 in Nederland: in 2011 met Give Me Everything (2 weken met Ne-Yo, Afrojack en Nayer) en in 2013 met Timber (4 weken met Ke$ha).



Jennifer Lopez werd geboren in Puerto Rico op 24 juni 1969. Ze groeit op in New York. In 1993 vraagt Janet Jackson haar mee te zingen op That’s The Way Love Goes. Daarna acteert en zingt ze afwisselend.  Ze haalde twee keer de toppositie in Nederland: in 1999 een week met If You Had My Love en in 2001 twee weken met Love Don't Cost A Thing. In 2012 scoorde ze samen met Pitbull ook al een #16 met Dance Again.

 

Cláudia Cristina Leite Inácio Pedreira werd geboren op 10 juli 1980 in Rio de Janeiro en groeit uit tot één van de populairste zangeressen van Brazilië. Ze was jarenlang het boegbeeld van de band Babado Novo. Ze is ook één van de coaches in de tv-talentenjacht The Voice Brasil. In 2014 leert de rest van de wereld haar kennen als ze meezingt met Pitbull en Jennifer Lopez op We Are One (Ole Ola), het thema van het FIFA Wereldkampioenschap voetbal.

Sam Smith stijgt met Stay With Me op 5 juli 2014 van 16 naar 10 in de vijfde week notering. Na La La La (met Naughty Boy) en eerder dit jaar Money On My Mind is dit zijn derde hit in Nederland. Stay With Me is afkomstig van zijn debuutalbum In The Lonely Hour. Hoewel Sam een paar weken geleden bekend maakte meer voor mannen te voelen dan voor vrouwen, maakte hij een tweede versie van Stay With Me met een vrouw: Mary J. Blige. Dat beviel goed, dus ze duiken van de zomer nog eens de studio in.

Samuel Frederick Smith werd geboren in Bishop's Stortford, Engeland op 19 mei 1992. Eerste Nederlandse hit La La La (met Naughty Boy) haalde #4 in 2013. Money On My Mind kwam in 2014 tot #32. In Vlaanderen brak hij al in 2012 door met Latch (met Disclosure).

Op 28 juni 2014 stijgen Ariana Grande en Iggy Azalea met Problem van 11 naar 8 in de zevende week notering. Problem is Ariana's tweede hit in Nederland nadat The Way met Mac Miller in 2013 #28 haalde.

Iggy Azalea werd geboren als Amethyst Amelia Kelly in Sydney op 7 juni 1990. Ze werd bekend nadat haar nummers Pu$$y en Two Times in 2011 vaak bekeken werden op YouTube. Problem is haar eerste hit. In de Billboard Hot 100 schreef Iggy Azalea nog geen maand geleden geschiedenis toen ze zowel de eerste als de tweede plaats bezette met haar eerste twee singles Fancy en Problem. Dat hitfeit was één keer eerder voorgekomen: op 22 februari 1964 stonden the Beatles #1 met I Want To Hold Your Hand en She Loves You op 2.

DJ Tiësto is de artiestennaam van Tijs Michiel Verwest (Breda, 17 januari 1969). Tijs Verwest scoorde in 1999 als Gouryella, zijn samenwerking met Ferry Corsten, zijn eerste notering in de Top 40 met 
Walhalla. De single bereikt de 35e plaats. In 2001 scoorde hij zijn eerste solohit met Flight 643 (#8). Twee keer haalde hij #2: met Traffic in 2003 en met In The Dark (met Christian Burns) in 2007. Volgens het Britse blad DJ Magazine was Tiësto van 2002 tot en met 2004 de beste dj ter wereld.
 

Matthew Koma werd geboren op 2 juni 1987 in Brooklyn, New York. Op zijn 23ste start hij als punkrocker, maar hij stapt al snel over op dance. Dotan stijgt op 21 juni 2014 met Home in de vijfde week notering van 19 naar 8. Home is de tweede single van zijn tweede album 7 Layers. De single stijgt plotseling snel doordat het gebruikt wordt als geluidsband bij de Oranje-successen op het WK Voetbal in Brazilië.

Dotan Harpenau werd geboren in Jeruzalem op 26 oktober 1986. Dotan is de jongste zoon van kunstschilderes Patty Harpenau. Hij groeide op in Amsterdam. In 2011 bereikte zijn single Your Town de 29ste plaats.
