Fun. featuring Janelle Monae

We Are Young van Fun. featuring Janelle Monae stijgt op 12 mei 2012 in de tiende week van 11 naar 7. De single werd uitgebracht op 20 september 2011. Het is de eerste single van Fun.'s tweede album Some Nights. Janelle Monáe werd gevraagd om mee te zingen, omdat ze een vriendin is van de producent Jeff Bhasker. De single werd in de VS een hit door de televisieserie Glee. Ook Chevrolet gebruikte het nummer voor een reclamespot tijdens Super Bowl. De single haalde al #1 in de Verenigde Staten, Canada, Australië, Ierland en Israël. Hitstanden in Nederland waren tot nu toe: 34-33-31-38-35-37-28-19-11-7. Op 30 juni 2012 stijgt de track in de 17e week terug de top 10 in.

Fun. bestaat uit zanger Nate Ruess, pianist-basgitarist Andrew Dost en gitarist-drummer Jack Antonoff. De band wilde een naam die kort en to the point is. Eerst kwam 'ice-cream' op. Dat zou volgens hen de slechtste naam ooit zijn, maar je wordt wel blij van het woord. Zo kwamen ze op Fun.. Het geeft je een goed gevoel. Fun. schrijf je met een punt erachter, omdat er al een andere formatie is die 'Fun' heet. Zij vroegen of de band iets aan de naam kon veranderen.

Janelle Monáe werd geboren als Janelle Monáe Robinson op 1 december 1985 in Kansas City.
