Leona Philippo

Leona Philippo wint op 14 december de finale van The Voice Of Holland. Dat leidt direct tot succes. Haar single Could You Be Loved, een cover van Bob Marley, komt op 22 december 2012 binnenknallen op nummer 2.

Leona Philippo werd geboren op 6 mei 1979 in Toronto, Canada. Op haar zesde verhuisde Leona met haar adoptiefamilie vanuit Toronto naar Nederland waar ze op haar zeventiende naar het Rotterdams Conservatorium ging. Na haar derde studiejaar besloot Leona in 1999 het Conservatorium te verlaten. Ze toerde met de Nits, Arling & Cameron en Junkie XL. In 2001 speelde Leona de hoofdrol Aida in de gelijknamige musical van Joop van den Ende. In 2002 haalde ze #29 met Zomer Op Je Radio/Summer On Your Radio, gemaakt ter promotie van Radio 538.Geen van haar optredens voor de finale van The Voice Of Holland haalt de Top 40, haar finalelied wel.

Leona is ook actief als actrice. Op dit moment is ze te zien in DE GROETEN VAN MIKE! en eerder dit jaar speelde ze een hoofdrol in de tvserie Lijn 32.

Leona heeft een zoon en is getrouwd met een vrouw.

Wildstylez featuring Niels Geusebroek

Wildstylez feat. Niels Geusebroek stijgen met hun hardstyle-track Year Of Summer op 15 december 2012 van 12 naar 8 in de derde week notering.

Wildstylez is het pseudoniem van Joram Metekohy (7 januari 1983). Zijn interesse voor elektronische muziek kwam in 2001 tijdens Trance Energy, daarna zorgde hardstylefeest ‘Qlimax’ voor nieuwe invloeden in zijn muziek. In 2004 begon Joram de opleiding ‘DJ/dance-producer’ aan de Rockacademie, maar die opleiding maakte hij niet af.

Niels Geusebroek is voormalig zanger van de Nederlandse band Silkstone. In 2011/2012 deed Niels mee aan het tv-programma The Voice of Holland waar hij de halve finale haalde. Silkstone haalde twee keer de Top 40: Ready #40 in 2002 en Here In Your World #35 in 2008.

Sandra van Nieuwland

Sandra van Nieuwland zingt op 8 december 2012 maar liefst twee singles de top 10 binnen en dat maakt drie tracks in totaal bij de bovenste tien. Nog steeds staat ze op nummer 1 met Keep Your Head Up. Beggin’, dat vorige week binnenkwam op nummer 19, stijgt met superstip naar nummer 4. Alsof dat nog niet genoeg is gaat haar eerste single More weer regelrecht de top 10 in en stijgt in de 14e week van 13 naar 9. Aangezien The Voice of Holland pas op 14 december 2012 zijn finale bereikt, kan Sandra nog even voort. De vierde single New Age is al onderweg richting Top 40.

Beggin' is een nummer van The Four Seasons uit 1967 met zang van Franki Valli. Deze versie haalde de hitparade niet. In 2009 stond de versie van de Noorse groep Madcon twee weken op 1 in Nederland.

De 35-jarige Van Nieuwland, moeder van drie kinderen, deed in 2012 ook mee aan de Grote Prijs Van Nederland. De in Haarlem woonachtige Sandra van Nieuwland (zang, piano) vormt samen met Ted Jordens (contrabas en gitaar) en Hans Hooijer (gitarist) het combo Sandra & The Appletree.

Sandra van Nieuwland

Sandra van Nieuwland stijgt met haar versie van Keep Your Head Up op 1 december 2012 van 16 naar 1. Ze zong het nummer op 16 november 2012 in de tweede liveshow van het derde seizoen van The voice of Holland. Het nummer was na de uitzending gelijk verkrijgbaar als muziekdownload en kwam een week later op nummer 1 binnen in de Nederlandse Single Top 100. Het werd van Nieuwlands tweede nummer 1 hit in deze lijst. In de Nederlandse Top 40 kwam de single op nummer 16 binnen, zonder dat het nummer in de Tipparade had gestaan.

 

De originele versie van Keep Your Head Up is afkomstig van het debuutalbum Every Kingdom van de Britse singer-songwriter Ben Howard uit 2011. Het nummer is geschreven door Howard zelf. De single werd 24 oktober 2011 uitgebracht en bereikte pas in augustus 2012 de twaalfde positie in de Nederlandse Top 40. In Vlaanderen kwam het nummer niet verder dan een 87ste plaats in de Ultratiplijst van de Ultratop 50.

Staygold featuring Style of Eye, Pow

Staygold featuring Style of Eye, Pow stijgt met Wallpaper op 24 november 2012 van 23 naar 7 in de tweede week. Op 12 januari 2013 stijgt de single in de achtste week notering terug de top 10 in van 11 naar 9. Wallpaper is de eerste single van het album Rain On Our Parade dat op 23 november uitkomt. De track was in week 46 3FM Megahit en is op 24 november de Alarmschijf.

Staygold komt uit Stockholm. De act opereert ook onder de naam Savage skulls. Bij beide acts zijn Carli Löf en Måns Glaeser de bandleden.

Style of Eye is de artiestennaam van Linus Eklöw, die net als de heren van Staygold, uit Stockholm komt. Eklöw werd van huis uit beïnvloed door componist Edvard Grieg en Stevie Wonder.

Pow is de zangeres van Wallpaper, die in het dagelijkse leven Pauline Elofsson heet.

Bruno Mars stijgt op 24 november 2012 van 11 naar 8 met Locked Out Of Heaven in de vijfde hitweek. Het is zijn twaalfde hit in Nederland. De track stijgt op 5 januari 2013 in de tiende week notering terug de top 10 in van 11 naar 7.

Bruno Mars werd geboren als Peter Gene Hernandez op Honolulu op 8 oktober 1985. Met zijn eerste drie singles haalde hij #1 in het Nederland van 2010: Nothin' On You (met B.o.B.; 2 weken), Billionaire (1 week) en Just The Way You Are (11 weken).

Op 3 november 2012 stijgt Passenger van 37 naar 5 met debuutsingle Let Her Go.De track is afkomstig van zijn vijfde studioalbum All The Little Lights. In week 43 van 2012 wordt het nummer 3FM Megahit.

Achter Passenger gaat zanger Mike Rosenberg uit Brighton schuil. Van 2003 tot 2009 maakte ook componist Andrew Phillips deel uit van Passenger. In 2007 verscheen debutalbum Wicked Man's Rest. Passenger verzorgde in 2012 het voorprogramma tijdens de tournee van Ed Sheeran.
