Major Lazer is een project van de Amerikaanse dj-producer Diplo en de Britse dj-producer Switch, die elkaar leerden kennen door M.I.A. In 2009 verscheen Major Lazers eerste single Hold The Line, maar die haalde ondanks hulp van Mr. Lex en Santigold geen hitparade notering. Original Don van Major Lazer met The Partysquad haalde in 2011 #98 in de Nederlandse Single Top 100. 


DJ Switch maakte van 2009 tot eind 2011 deel uit van het project Major Lazer. Switch is een pseudoniem voor Dave Taylor uit Londen. 


Diplo is de artiestennaam van Thomas Wesley Pentz, die op 10 november 1978 geboren werd. Pentz' artiestennaam komt van Diplodocus, de dinosaurus waar hij in zijn jeugd gefascineerd door was. Diplo haalde in 2011 samen met Tiësto en Busta Rhymes #5 met C'mon (Catch 'Em By Surprise).

Amber Coffman werd geboren op 15 juni 1984 in Austin, Texas. In 2005 werd ze bandlid van de Amerikaanse instrumentale rock band Sleeping People. In 2007 was ze te horen als gitariste op het album Growing. Vanaf 2007 werd ze lid van de groep Dirty Projectors.

Op 5 februari stijgen Tiesto vs. Diplo ft. Busta Rhymes met C'mon (Catch 'Em By Surprise) van 17 naar 7. Het is Tiesto's 15e Top 40 hit en 10e top 10-hit. Het is Diplo's 1e Top 40-hit en Busta Rhymes' 12e.

Tijs Michiel Verwest werd geboren op 17 januari 1969 in Breda. In 2001 scoorde hij zijn eerste hit met Flight 643 (#8). Van zijn 10 top 10-hits haalden er twee #2: Traffic in 2003 en In The Dark (met Christian Burns) in 2007. In de Single Top 100 haalde hij #1 met Traffic. Het Britse blad DJ Magazine publiceert elk jaar de lijst met de 100 beste internationale dj's, gekozen door het publiek. In 2002, 2003 en 2004 stond Tiësto op #1.

Diplo is een pseudoniem van Thomas Wesley Pentz. De DJ/producer/componist komt uit Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Verenigde Staten. C'mon is zijn eerste hit in Nederland.

Busta Rhymes is een pseudoniem van Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr. Hij werd geboren op 20 mei 1972 in Brooklyn, New York, Verenigde Staten. Busta Rhymes scoorde in 1996 zijn eerste Top 40-hit met Woo-Hah!! Got You All In Check (#27). In 1997 was Busta Rhymes lid van de act The Monstars of Space Jam met B-Real, Coolio, LL Cool J & Method Man en hun single Hit 'Em High (The Monstars' Anthem) haalde #4. In 1998 scoorde Busta zijn eerste solo Top 40-hit met Turn It Up (Remix) / Fire It Up (#3). Zijn grootste hit tot nu toe is zijn bijdrage aan Don't Cha van The Pussycat Dolls (#2 in 2005).
