De track verscheen op 20 september 2011 en nadat Justin Bieber en Selena Gomez twitterden over de song kreeg Carly Rae internationale aandacht. De track haalde #1 in thuisland Canada, Australië, Nieuw-Zeeland en Ierland. In de VS piekte de single op #18.

Carly Rae Jepsen werd geboren op 20 november 1985 in Mission, British Columbia, Canada. In 2007 werd ze derde bij de Canadese versie van Idols. In Canada had ze in 2008 haar eerste hit met Tug Of War (#36).
