Elena Gheorghe

Elena Gheorghe stijgt op 1 oktober van 13 naar 9 met Midnight Sun. Na Inna en Alexandra Stan is Elena de derde Roemeense zangeres met een Nederlandse top 10-hit. Midnight Sun werd opgenomen in de zomer van 2010 en was in Roemenië voor het eerst te horen op 15 november 2010. De track is afkomstig van Gheorghe's nog te verschijnen album Midnight Sun. De video is opgenomen op 11 april 2011 in het archeologiemuseum in Boekarest. Het is Elena's tweede Nederlandse hit en eerste top 10-succes.


Elena Gheorge werd geboren in Boekarest op 30 juli 1985. Ze vertegenwoordigde Roemenië in 2009 op het Eurovisie Songfestival. Haar song The Balkan Girls bereikte de finale en werd uiteindelijk 19e. In februari 2011 kwam Disco Romancing de Top 40 binnen. De track stond 7 weken genoteerd en haalde #19.

Op 24 september stijgt James Morrison van 11 naar 10 met Slave To The Music. Het is zijn tiende hit en vijfde top 10-succes.

James Morrison werd geboren als James Morrison Catchpole in Rugby, Warwickshire op 13 augustus 1984. In 2006 had hij zijn eerste Nederlandse hit met You Give Me Something (#2). In 2008 was Broken Strings met Nelly Furtado goed voor #5.

Coldplay

Op 24 september komt Coldplay met Paradise op 7 binnen in de Top 40. De track is afkomstig van het op 24 oktober 2011 te verschijnen album Mylo Xyloto. Mylo Xyloto betekent volgens zanger Chris Martin wat de luisteraar zelf wil. Voor hemzelf staat het voor 'de vrijheid om alles te bedenken wat je wilt'. Paradise is Coldplay's 14e hit en 8e top 10 hit.

Coldplay bestaat uit zanger, pianist en gitarist Chris Martin, leadgitarist Jon Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman en drummer Will Champion.Coldplay stond twee keer aan kop van de Top 40: 4 weken met Talk in 2005 en 3 weken met Viva La Vida in 2008. In de Top 2000 van  2010 stond Clocks op 8 en Viva La Vida op 7. In totaal stonden ze met 10 tracks genoteerd.

Stereo Hearts van Gym Class Heroes featuring Adam Levine stijgt op 10 september van 11 naar 8. Het is de tweede hit voor de Gym Class Heroes. Voor zanger Travie McCoy is het de vierde hit, want hij scoorde er solo al 3. Adam Levine bracht eerder drie solosingles uit, maar die flopten. Met Maroon 5 scoorde hij 11 hits.

Gym Class Heroes werd opgericht in 1997. De groep bestaat uit zanger Travis McCoy, gitarist Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo, drummer Matt McGinley en bassist Eric Roberts. In 2007 scoorden ze hun eerste hit met Cupid's Chokehold (#9). De singles erna flopten. In 2010 scoort zanger Travis onder de naam 'Travie McCoy' een #1-hit met het nummer Billionaire en een #22 met We'll Be Alright. In 2011 haalt Higher met Taio Cruz #7.

Adam Levine (Los Angeles, 18 maart 1979) is de zanger van Maroon 5.

Keizer & De Munnik

Op 22 augustus 2011  gaan in het radio 2 programma De Gouden Uren twee singles in première: Kijk Me Na van Keizer en De Munnik en Sterker Dan Ooit van Nick & Thomas. Aangekondigd wordt dat de twee duo's een battle aan zullen gaan. De twee singles zijn vanaf dinsdag 23 augustus legaal te downloaden, en verschijnen 2 september op cd-single samen met twee 'solo'-versies. Op zaterdag 3 september 2011 is de voorlopige winnaar Sterker Nu Dan Ooit van Nick & Thomas, want hun single komt op 10 binnnen. Kijk Me Na van Keizer & De Munnik komt op 13 binnen. In de tweede week haalt hun single ook de top 10, dan stijgt de track van 13 naar 9.

Toen Nick & Simon voor hun in oktober geplande Symphonica In Rosso stadionconcerten een gastact zochten en vonden in Acda en de Munnik werd het ooit als grap geopperde wederzijdse vreemdgaan werkelijkheid. Nick & Thomas wordt gevormd door Nick Schilder - van Nick & Simon - en Thomas Acda, van Acda en de Munnik. Keizer & De Munnik is een samenwerking tussen Simon Keizer – bekend van Nick & Simon - en Paul de Munnik, bekend van Acda en de Munnik. Na het viertal concerten in de Symphonica In Rosso reeks op 8, 14, 15 en 16 oktober 2011 zal ieder weer zijns weegs gaan.

Nick Schilder (6 november 1983) en Simon Keizer (16 mei 1984) scoorden als Nick & Simon 13 hits. Vaarwel verleden / De Soldaat was in oktober 2006 de eerste (#21). Vier keer bereikten ze de top 10: Kijk Omhoog (#6 in 2007), Rosanne (#4 in 2008), Hoe Lang? (#3 in 2008) en Het Masker / Santa's Party (#8 in 2009). Vier songs staan in de Radio 2 Top 2000 waarvan Pak Maar M'n Hand in 2010 op 317 de hoogste is.

Thomas Acda (6 maart 1967) en Paul de Munnik (30 september 1970) scoorden als Acda & De Munnik 11 hits. Niet Of Nooit Geweest was in juni 1998 de eerste. Twee keer bereikten ze de top 10: Niet Of Nooit Geweest (#2 in 1998) en Groeten Uit Maaiveld (#10 in 2003). Negen songs staan in de Radio 2 Top 2000 waarvan Het Regent Zonnestralen in 2010 op 52 de hoogstgenoteerde is. Samen met de groep Van Dik Hout vormden Acda & De Munnik De Poema's. Dat leverde drie hits op, waaronder de top 10 hits Mijn Houten Hart (#7 in 1999) en Zij Maakt Het Verschil (2 weken 1 in 2001).
